Navajo Blanket Dress
Navajo blankets are a symbol of power and affluence. Once made for chiefs, Navajo blanket began spread from the Navajo's ancestral lands, to the Great Plains, and to Mexico. This warm comfortable dress is the perfect combination of wool, lace, and tulle.

Connection to Catcher in the Rye
Inspired by the irony of a sick Old Spencer clutching a Navajo blanket , this dress conveys the same irony. Spencer being a US History teacher, is familiar with the atrocities against indigenous peoples commit by the US government, while finding comfort and safety with the Navajo blanket. Similar to this, the dress combines indigenous textile designs with American "Wild West" fasion in an ironic way.
Special Note:
The Navajo blanket portions of this dress uses equitably sourced, authentic Navajo textiles. The textiles are handmade by the inhabitants of the Navajo Nation.
